Opening in 2026, COTA’s amusement park is a 20-acre theme park featuring two first of their kind Roller Coasters and over three dozen rides.
Job Description:
The Part-Time Ride Maintenance Technician supports the COTALAND Maintenance Department by assisting with the inspection, repair, and upkeep of amusement rides and attractions. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that all rides operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with state and manufacturer requirements. This position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy hands-on work, learning technical skills, and being part of a high-energy, guest-focused environment. This role is on-site.
Requirements
Requirements & Essential Functions:
- Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance on rides and attractions under the supervision of senior maintenance staff.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
- Complete assigned maintenance logs and documentation accurately.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and ride areas.
- Support the operations team with ride testing and safety verifications prior to opening.
- Follow all safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures at all times.
- Assist with seasonal ride preparation for events such as Peppermint Parkway and other COTA festivals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Director.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous maintenance or mechanical experience (automotive, industrial, or amusement rides)
- Basic understanding of tools, safety procedures, and maintenance practices
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical systems
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
Physical Demand & Work Environments:
- Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
- Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
