Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week (or other frequency dictated by manager). The primary work location will be Warren, Michigan.
The Role
The Program Management team plays a critical role in the successful execution of new technology development and implementation in the Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC). As we expand our vehicle portfolio in pursuit of GM’s Zero/Zero/Zero vision, the team is seeking qualified candidates for open Assistant Program Manager positions to support exciting initiatives across the ARC and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
This position involves managing, organizing and coordinating workflow regarding products, manufacturing, and projects with precision and agility, ensuring alignment across multiple cross functional teams and business objectives. The Assistant Program Manager is expected to exercise independent judgment, creativity and must work effectively with their team as well as across functions and with various management levels. The role emphasizes decision-making, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration to propose solutions and plans that can then be documented, clearly communicated for support and implementation.
What You Will Do
Lead and Facilitate Cross-Functional Teams
- Orchestrate collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and quality teams to ensure seamless program execution. Foster accountability and alignment toward shared goals.
Manage Program Plans and Risks
- Ensure business deliverables are identified and accounted for in project plans with responsibility and due dates
- Continuously monitor and report on project status
- Manage the identification, documentation, and traceability of business requirements
- Developing tracking scorecards and metrics to illustrate status and ownership.
- Monitor project progress and consolidate status reports
- Investigate and document complex business processes
Support Developing Milestone Reviews assisting Workstream Leaders Ensuring the team is on track to deliver.
- Track business resources and identify any shortages based on project plans. Align cross-functional business and technical teams to help ensure alignment of goals and to help resolve conflicting priorities.
Drive Issue Resolution and Decision Framing
- Gain an understanding of program workstreams/projects to be able to assist in identification of issues and risks. Provide guidance and support during execution of change management activities.
Assist Workstream Leaders in Facilitation and collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
- Managing multiple efforts simultaneously across a broad range of functions, business and organizational units
Prepare Leadership Review Materials
- Prepare summary of data and results into presentations for various levels of leadership
Adapt to Dynamic Environments
- Maintain effectiveness in fast-paced, evolving contexts involving new technologies, shifting responsibilities, and diverse market demands. Demonstrate agility and resilience.
Apply and Build Technical Expertise
- Leverage existing and develop understanding of vehicle systems, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles to guide program decisions and resolve complex challenges.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 5-+ years experience
- Evidence of strong communication skills
- Understanding of many aspects of the business: including knowledge of Manufacturing, Engineering, GPSC, Marketing, Finance, Design and Planning
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, hands-on environments with shifting priorities and limited resources
- Extensive understanding of the GM’s organization, resources, and functions
- Technical or Business undergrad degree; equivalent experience
