WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Social Media Intern, you’ll support the INDYCAR social team in daily management of @INDYCAR and @INDYNXT channels under the guidance of the Social Media Manager. You'll help bring the social strategy to life through content creation, community engagement, and fan growth initiatives. Working closely with the Penske Entertainment team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, evolving digital landscape.
In this role, you’ll be an important part of delivering top-tier experiences to fans, partners, and teams across the motorsports world. You’ll take ownership of key responsibilities, collaborate across departments, and bring energy and innovation to a fast-paced environment.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Social Media leads in day-to-day social publishing, content tracking, and implementation of overarching social strategy
- Assist with all race weekend coverage during the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone seasons, including live clipping highlights for social posting
- Continually identify trends and opportunities for community engagement across all social platforms through conversation monitoring
- Create social content, including photography, graphics and short-form video and writing social copy for assigned posts
- Stay current on latest industry trends and best practices, including emerging platforms
- Able to travel to INDYCAR races, meetings and events as defined by the Social Media Manager and other departments
- Enthusiasm for and commitment to the company and the Vision, Mission and Values

Required Experience & Skills:
- Experience in social, digital, marketing or content roles
- Understanding of major social platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
- Experience in social listening and analytics tools is preferred (Blinkfire, etc.)
- The person who is selected for this position should be proactive, efficient, flexible, resilient, organized and a team player
- The chosen individual must maintain high levels of integrity and confidentiality
- Ability to work in high-paced environment and on short deadlines
- Effective communication skills
- Cultural competence and the ability to thrive in a diverse environment

Education:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, Sports Management preferred)
Leadership:
- This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
FLEXIBILITY & TRAVEL
- Internship begins in February and concludes at the end of September (must be available for all INDYCAR events during this period)
- Requires minimum of 30 hours per week during duration of the internship at INDYCAR office.
- This job may require travel to INDYCAR events (<10%). There will be weekend and holiday work when race events are held
- Candidate must be able to work overtime as needed
- Our teams work together to create flexibility that supports life in and out of work
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Physical demands consist primarily of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Must have the stamina to work long hours and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends or evenings.
- Occasional work outdoors requires physical strength and stamina to endure extreme heat, cold, rain and other conditions.
- Comfort working indoors/outdoors and around event noise
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Fast-paced, collaborative office and event settings
- Work is mainly performed in an indoor environment and near others.
- The employee is faced with frequent interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis.
- The noise level in the work environment can be loud, due to professional racing events.
