The Role - As a Buyer you will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services. Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and collaborate with suppliers or internal partners. The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and judgment.
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for purchase of all or a specific portion of productive and/or non-productive materials, supplies, machinery, tooling and/or services.
- Responsible for actively participating in development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, global/regional material budget execution, and interface with suppliers or internal stakeholders.
- Work is of a complex nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and a high level of independent judgment.
- Partner with Program Managers to represent purchasing and communicate program requirements/vehicle line overview.
- Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 2+ years relevant post-graduate work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, logistics, or product development
- Experience with commodities required
- High level of capability to work independently
- Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Negotiation skills
- Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time
- Capable of interpreting contracts
- Demonstrated global business skills
- Ability to travel 5—10% travel
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Cost analysis, or manufacturing experience
- Automotive industry experience
- Knowledge of materials management
- Capable of interpreting market data
- Able to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
- Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, related field, or equivalent work experience
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related advanced degree a plus
