Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
The Role
Responsibilities include leading and managing the teams responsible for both the Safety Performance integration and computer aided engineering (CAE) development for assigned programs.
As the Safety Performance Integration EGM, you will Lead, manage and mentor a group of Performance Integration Engineers leveraging analytical tools and confirmatory testing to meet Safety Performance requirements per the following:
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Manage a group that pro-actively develops and executes to an ADV plan for current/new programs based on vehicle content and functional performance requirements.

Support the Vehicle VDP for Safety by identifying current performance and developing design direction to meet requirements

Interfaces and collaborate with partner organizations within GPD, including SMT, Global Safety Center, GEBS and others.

Define and implement a strategy for continued efficiency improvement to support new VDP and ZPT.

Interface with Safety and SMT leaders to proactively mitigate anticipated design, performance, and validation issues

Fully engage in vehicle development activity and proactively take ownership of simulation and test activity to best guide the design team.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or other engineering fields required.

7+ years background in Safety performance, Safety CAE, or similar

Great leadership skills, ability to coach and mentor employees in their careers, provide feedback

Ability to advocate for safety, with highest levels of integrity

Ability to work cross-functionally with other areas to build relationships and develop optimal vehicle level solutions

Knowledge of Safety systems, Safety components, and Body structure

Knowledge of relevant commercial software (Dyna-3d, etc.)

Familiarity with and adept at integrating; computer tools, 3D CAD files, CAE methods and Experimental Data
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Masters or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or other engineering fields preferred.

10 years background in Safety performance, Safety CAE, or similar

Vehicle level development and integration experience

Mathematical modeling and analysis of various subsystems of both conventional and electric vehicle powertrain using state-of-the-art analytical tools
