Work Arrangement: On Site : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Defense Production Facility on a full-time basis (shift is four 10's, Monday - Thursday).

The Role:
This position is a unique opportunity to influence the way General Motors Defense material flows in our assembly plant. Your mission is to implement material strategies in GA assembly while working with cross functional teams to setup efficient and lean material flow and work as ‘One Team’ for material strategies. Develop / understand long-term Material & LMS vision for the plant. Plan and support execution of all plant Lean Material Strategies including material flow, material routings, storage space requirements, mobile equipment, layout development, storage areas, kitting, small lot strategy, sequence planning, PFEP, etc.
What You'll Do:
· Develop and apply Lean Material Strategies (LMS) using the GMD Material Matrix to ensure most efficient material presentation to Mfg. Operators.
· Develop/revise operational plans for docking locations (DLOC) and user locations (ULOC).
· Create material routing and maintain in SAP
· Develop material delivery and non-conforming materials strategies for all projects.
· Develop efficient Material Route Planning (GMOS), Dock Strategies, Material Flow.
· Create crew plans to ensure resources are properly allocated and utilized effectively. (Stockmen)
· Develop, maintain, and update Plans of Record (PoR)s in SAP software
· Implement Internal Benchmarks for material flow and material handling processes.
· Drive problem solving issues for throughput and quality issues.
· Optimize floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment.
· Support the Manufacturing Launch team at the plant and Program Team.
· Drive & execute common standards, processes, and lean designs.
· Integrate Lean Manufacturing and GM-Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles.
· Provide updates to plant staff and Program Team as required.
· Analyze existing operations and propose continuous improvements (CI).

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Supply chain, Industrial) or equivalent experience

Minimum 2 years of equivalent experience (Mfg. and Supply chain)

High level of analytical ability & problem solving where problems are unusual and difficult.

Experience with using AutoCAD, Factory cad or equivalent, MS-Office tools (Excel, Access, Project, Word, and PowerPoint)

Knowledge of Industrial Engineering skills and techniques
