The expectation with this role is that in the immediate short term, you will be based at McLaren Technology Centre and then move with the company to our new facility.
Role Overview
The SMT Materials Co-ordinator plays a critical role in supporting the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production line by ensuring the timely and accurate availability of kits. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to managing stock and kitting schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the kitting schedule to align with SMT production requirements.
- Pick and prepare kits accurately and efficiently for SMT builds.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate stock records using inventory management systems.
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Inform planning of part shortages to prevent delays in production.
- Coordinate closely with production planning to ensure kit readiness matches build schedules.
- Confer with department managers to determine overdue work and inform production planners of material status.
- Conferring with department team leads to determine progress of work and ensure manufacturing sequences are achieved.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the SMT area.
- Assist with stock audits and cycle counts as required.
- Opportunity to train on and support operation of the pick-and-place machine.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience in stock control, warehousing, or production support.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Basic computer literacy (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
Desirable:
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or SMT environment.
- Familiarity with pick-and-place machinery.
- Understanding of kitting processes and production planning.
