We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team and lead quality assurance across production and customer programmes.
Purpose of the Role
As Senior Quality Engineer, reporting to the Head of Quality, you will be the primary quality lead for production and customer-facing activities. You will ensure delivery of programme milestones, drive root cause investigations (leading 8D and 5Y investigations), and influence quality culture across the shopfloor and wider engineering teams. This role demands technical expertise in electronics and a strong ability to lead and collaborate across functions.
Role Dimensions
The role will require overtime during peak periods or as projects demand, to ensure delivery of key objectives and responsibilities are achieved.
Principal Accountabilities
- Lead quality assurance for electronic components and systems across production and customer programmes.
- Drive root cause analysis using 8D, 5Y, and other problem-solving tools.
- Host and manage customer audits, ensuring non-conformances are resolved effectively.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Project teams to ensure quality targets are met.
- Analyse failure modes and provide detailed reports to customers and suppliers.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the shopfloor and cross-functional teams.
- Develop and audit inspection/test plans and acceptance criteria in collaboration with NPI teams.
- Facilitate Material Review Boards and drive corrective actions to closure.
- Support and improve quality systems in line with ISO9001 and IPC Class 3 standards.
- Act as a quality ambassador, influencing behaviours and standards across the business
- Work autonomously within established procedures and practices.
- Ensure activities are conducted in line with Motion Applied Safety, Quality and Environmental systems and focused to achieve customer expectations.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in electronics manufacturing, ideally within motorsport or high-performance sectors.
- Strong background in PCB fault investigation and electronic quality systems.
- Skilled in quality tools: 8D, SPC, Pareto, Ishikawa, 5Y, Six Sigma.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams on the shopfloor and across departments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in lean manufacturing and process improvement.
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent (preferred but not essential).
- Pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset with strong analytical skills.
- Comfortable working autonomously and managing multiple priorities.
