JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a hardworking, experienced, and motivated individual that adopts a hands-on approach to join us at Silverstone.
The Campsite Operations Manager will be responsible for planning and delivery of onsite camping and glamping operations at various Events at Silverstone, including the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. They will work with the Campsite Manager to create operational efficiencies within the delivery across all campsites, working with organisers, internal departments and contractors to ensure expectations are exceeded for all customers, including those that are working and staying in the staff and volunteer campsites.

Key Responsibilities
- Planning of the camp and glampsites at various Events, including the Formula 1 British Grand Prix using event expertise to manage projects from initial concept through to completion.
- Responsible for organising and facilitating all aspects of allocated projects. The likes of which will include site planning and inspections, infrastructure, signage, contingency planning and post event evaluation.
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers and contractors to get a high quality, safe and cost-effective service.
- Booking and Management of all temporary facilities and infrastructure. Ensuring that each campsite and glampsite is set up as required for the event and handed back efficiently.
- Ownership and management of budgets, financial reporting and reconciling budgets post event.
- Managing team workload to deliver the event administration including raising of purchase orders and invoices.
- Understanding the impact of campsites and glampsites on the Zone X operations, and sharing this to influence event operations around security, stewarding, wayfinding and directional signage, etc.
- Creation of safe and effective operational plans, build and breakdown schedules, production schedules and event timelines. Access control including working with the accreditation team to ensure all contractors are set up and effectively uploading accreditation requests within agreed timescales and limits.
- Acting as a Silverstone point of contact for all official and unofficial campsites operating at Events.
- Working with Silverstone’s official campsite operators as a point of contact for planning and during the event ensuring that event safety and operational plans are in keeping with Silverstone’s high standards.
- Working and building relationships with all stakeholders ensuring camp and glampsites are communicated and delivered effectively and efficiently within the brief.
- Assist with products and services procurement to enhance the event whilst keeping within budgets.
- Working with the Partnerships team to deliver brand partnerships and experiences at the camping and glamping sites.
- Liaising with all suppliers to ensure relevant sustainability data is captured and shared to assist in post event reporting.
- Provide health and safety expertise whilst managing risks to ensure each campsite and glampsite is delivered safely, this includes ensuring contractors only work on site when they have completed the appropriate documentation and supplied the correct insurance and certificates. The Campsite Operations Manager will also be responsible for ensuring contractors adhere to Health and Safety Guidelines and KPI’s.
- Work with the Campsite Manager to create and deliver the briefing plan to manage casual and freelance resource.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ownership and completion of events/projects in a timely manner

KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- BGP Operations and Public Events teams.
- All internal departments. The key business areas critical to the success of our events including finance, marketing, customer services, catering, logistics and venue operations.
- External third-party suppliers (traders, contractors, suppliers, F1 management and customers).
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A relevant business or Events degree
- Motorsport Experience is beneficial but not essential
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience working within the events industry ideally working on major public events ideally events operating on greenfield or semi-greenfield sites
- Great commercial acumen with proven experience of managing camp and glampsites from implementation through to completion
- Experience of delivering all elements of an event from concept and contracts through to post event evaluation. This also includes managing budgets.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft packages such as Word, Teams, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence effectively
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure in a small team environment, with multiple projects at any given time
- Team player with a "can-do" attitude
- Adaptability and the ability to jump in at the deep end
- Eye for detail with a planning mind-set
- Experience of using a project management system is highly desirable
- Strong health and safety awareness - completion of IOSH or similar training qualifications is preferable
- Crowd Dynamics qualifications or relevant experience is desirable
- Driving Licence is essential
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evening and weekend work particularly between March - December
