About The Team
ZF presents state-of-the-art steering solutions such as "Steer-by-Wire" and "EasyTurn" for maximum maneuverability and easy handling on narrow streets. Additionally, the "Brake-by-Wire" toolbox includes technologies ranging from hybrid to dry systems without brake fluid. In addition, ZF will present the latest generation of the innovative "Smart Chassis Sensor", which enables predictive maintenance and road condition monitoring. ZF's smart software platform "cubiX" serves to integrate and control all actuators of a car chassis. The new AI-supported tool "cubix Tuner" helps with the complex calibration of chassis dynamics functions. Now we are looking for a Principal Supplier Development Engineer for our Division Chassis Solution, at our location in Shanghai.
What you can look forward to as a Principal SDE - Chassis:
- Be considered the technical representative within the SDE team for BNA.
- Work as a single and proactive interface for BNA suppliers’ development and manage all quality activities to support existing business and develop future business potential. Utilizes analytical and creative thinking to develop supplier plans that prevent problems and solve complex technical issues. He/She must understand the big picture and consider ZF business needs and supplier situations when making plans/decisions.
- Raises the supplier’s performance bar by creating, promoting, and sustaining a performance culture. Assess suppliers' manufacturing cell design and process capabilities, and generate gap closure plans to address weaknesses for targeted suppliers.
- Delivers on-time, on-quality performance by driving a comprehensive supplier development plan for targeted/assigned supplier deficiencies.
- May lead the development/advancement of the SDE Global Commodity Cultivation Team. Support systemic improvement across the global division, for example, by sharing points in the global team.
- This position will require frequent overnight travel to assigned supplier locations (Main locally) for pre-sourcing evaluations, APQP-PPAP assessments/problem resolution, and lead crisis management situations.
Your profile as a Principal SDE - Chassis:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in mechanical/engineering required. Fluent English and Chinese language required; 8+ years of experience in a global company. Automotive SDE experience will be preferred, AME or manufacturing /quality role managing assembly products will also be considered.
- This position will have knowledge of BNA or Bearing related commodity processes, such as Turning, Grinding, Heat Treatment, Assembly, Application Design, Test/Measurement, and will continue to learn and leverage all other specific commodities as required. It is best to have some basic understanding of rubber, plastics, and powder metallurgy processes.
- Working knowledge of BNA and Bearing development from drawing assessment, ball return system design, and need to have a good understanding of software such as Adams/Marc, process design, and qualification. Demonstrated results through hands-on experience from the shop floor to the boardroom.
- Know about BNA or Bearing design/manufacturing for industrialization of processes including experience of automated processes, perfectly execute data collection/sorting, fixture design, system thinking on complete process & line, planning process & design baseline definition for whole line to meet Ergonomic, GD&T, Cycle time and efficiency of production, check and ensure design/process quality.
- Good Knowledge of APQP/PPAP/MSA/PFEMA/SPC, etc, Good project management sense.
- Be familiar with knowledge in Red-X/Shinning about problem solving will be preferred.
- Good communication skills with a cross-functional team include internal/external.
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin.
