Senior Group Program Manager, Digital Product Commerce Solutions
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical Innovation Center in Warren (MI), Austin (TX), or Mountain View (CA) three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at any of these 3 locations.
As a Senior Group Program Manager , you will play a pivotal role in leading the execution of GM’s digital commerce and commercial software initiatives within the Digital Products Engineering (DPE) organization. This position is central to driving the delivery of innovative, customer-facing technologies that power GM’s eCommerce platforms and revenue-generating digital products.
You will collaborate closely with DPE Engineering Directors across Digital eCommerce, Physical eCommerce & Billing, Commercial Software, and Connected Vehicle Commerce, ensuring that software development activities are executed with precision, efficiency, and alignment to strategic objectives. Your leadership will bring a programmatic lens to all deliverables—managing dependencies, risks, intake, and capacity across a dynamic and evolving engineering landscape.
In this highly cross-functional and strategic role, you will guide complex software engineering programs from concept to launch, partnering with technical, business, and executive stakeholders. You will shape the roadmap, governance structures, and change management practices that enable scalable, responsible, and high-impact software delivery across GM’s digital ecosystem.
What You’ll Do

Lead, manage, and inspire a team of 8–12 senior program managers, fostering a high-performance culture focused on execution, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Own the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of digital products, including Digital eCommerce, Physical eCommerce & Billing, Commercial Software, and Connected Vehicle Commerce platforms.

Serve as the primary program manager for high-impact, Director-level initiatives, driving feature roadmaps, capacity planning, risk mitigation, and cross-functional execution.

Act as the central escalation point for program-level blockers, risks, and issues, with direct accountability for resolution and stakeholder alignment.

Ensure accurate and transparent representation of engineering work and demand across tools such as Jira and Align, enabling data-driven decision-making.

Transform the program management function from a status-reporting role to a proactive, execution-driven organization that accelerates delivery and impact.

Drive accountability and performance across dependent teams, including Product, Business, Legal, Purchasing, PMO, and IT, ensuring alignment and timely delivery.

Deliver execution-focused reporting and insights to senior leadership, including VPs, Directors, and Engineering Managers, enabling strategic visibility and informed decisions.

Proactively identify and solve systemic challenges affecting engineering execution, minimizing distractions and enabling teams to focus on high-value work.

Champion best practices in software development workflows, change management, and engineering lifecycle processes to ensure scalable, sustainable delivery.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, technical program management, or product/program leadership within complex enterprise environments.

5+ years of people leadership experience, with a proven ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams.

Demonstrated success in leading large-scale, cross-functional software engineering programs, especially in customer-facing technologies and digital platforms.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Strong track record of driving cross-functional collaboration across technical, business, and executive stakeholders to deliver unified outcomes.

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate clearly across all levels of the organization.

Deep expertise in Agile, hybrid, and scaled program management methodologies, with hands-on proficiency in tools such as Jira, Align, and Confluence.

Passionate about fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement, with strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an MBA with a strong technical focus.

Industry experience in automotive, industrial, or enterprise software domains—particularly in Digital eCommerce, Billing Systems, Commercial Software, or Connected Vehicle Commerce.

Proven success in building and scaling engineering or operational processes from the ground up, with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and cross-functional alignment.

Demonstrated leadership in enterprise transformation programs, ideally within a Fortune 500 company or a high-growth technology organization.

Ability to navigate and influence complex stakeholder environments, driving alignment across technical, business, and executive teams.
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The salary range for this role is $198,000 to $358,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
