Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
We are seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Product Interface Engineer to support the integration of product and manufacturing requirements for Body-In-White (BIW) systems. This role involves solving complex manufacturing challenges, driving dimensional quality, and ensuring product designs are optimized for manufacturability and global interbuildability.
You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to support vehicle program execution from design through launch. This position may also involve mentoring team members and coordinating small workgroups.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with Product Engineering to ensure Manufacturing Requirements (MRs) and Best Practices (BPs) are incorporated into product program design releases.
- Validate product designs against dimensional strategies including Common Datum Locating Strategy (CDLS), Hole-to-Hole, and ABC Metrics.
- Ensure product designs align with global interbuildability strategy.
- Develop and manage the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to support product program milestones.
- Manage Manufacturing Concept Sheets and Study Requests.
- Manage Engineering Change Management (ECM) activities impacting BIW.
- Develop and Track Product Engineering-driven cost increases.
- Develop, submit and track material orders for tooling integration, buy-off, and Manufacturing Validation Events.
- Support the sourcing process for purchased parts and tooling.
- Assist the Issue Resolution Team (IRT) during plant builds to resolve product/process issues.
- Collaborate with the Vehicle Dimensional Quality Manager (VDQM) to develop and execute the Critical Interface Plan.
- Contribute to Statements of Requirements (SORs), including Appendix B1.
- Participate in technical reviews and resolve subassembly strategy issues.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, preferably in automotive or BIW environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across product/manufacturing engineering, plant, and supplier teams.
- Demonstrated experience in Project Management and Stakeholder Management.
- High level of Oral and written communication skills and facilitator/leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in BIW tooling design and build.
- Proficiency in TeamCenter and VisMockup.
- Familiarity with math-based processes.
- Knowledge of GMNA standards and Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) deliverables.
