The FIA is looking for a data development engineer trainee to join the Formula 1 Technical Audit department, available from October 2025 for a period of 6 months (mandatory internship agreement delivered from a university). We seek a results-driven and proactive person, who is passionate about building software solutions that address problems by transforming how our engineers use data and technology. This position is based at our headquarters in Geneva and will involve some travel to our offices in London.
MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This internship will have a specific project deliverable: enhancing the data ingestion process and analysis tools that enable our auditors to check and analyze information captured from multiple sources.
In this role, you will:
- Develop our tool for ingesting and processing tabular data from multiple sources of information.
- Develop analytics and visualization dashboards to support regulatory checks and enable additional insights into the data.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
As part of this project, you will be integrated into the Formula 1 Technical Audit group to build a comprehensive understanding of the engineering brief and context, which may include some attendance at other F1 stakeholder locations, FIA remote operations center or events.
PROFILE:
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering student or graduate in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Strong foundations in data structures and algorithm design
- Proficiency in Python; familiarity with Java, C++, or C# is an advantage
- Knowledge in database design, modeling, and querying
- Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and image analysis tools such as OCR
- Experience with data cleaning and processing techniques to discover insights
- An understanding of testing, debugging, and general software development best practices.
