Job Purpose
This Assistant Manager assists in meeting division objectives of Fixed First Visit and Lifetime Owner Loyalty by ensuring Honda, Acura, Powersports, Power Equipment, and Marine dealers, across many markets in the North American Region, are equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to service our vehicles and products prior to model and/or market action launch. It not only provides effective leadership for its team but is responsible for its key support role for North American dealers through tool development, supplier management, equipment evaluation, aggressive delivery timing, fixed ops solutions, and technical support.
Key Accountabilities
Manage and develop group personnel
Coordinate tool support needs for market action (recalls, campaigns, product updates, etc.) and model launch
Define, maintain, and enforce tool and equipment methodology and best practices for development, procurement, quality, and on-time delivery
Maintain communication with dealers to understand service needs
Direct tool and equipment evaluation activities
Communicate and report service readiness status to upper management
Identify needs for service technology projects to maximize dealer efficiency and profitability and assign development priority
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor degree in automotive technology or relevant engineering field
Equivalent work experience
8+ years automotive industry
4+ years team lead
4+ years dealer service and fixed ops
4+ years automotive tool and equipment development
Strong leadership, analytical, project management, and organizational skills
Strong written, oral, and executive presentation skills
Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
Expert understanding of Honda Special Service Tool (SST) development process, quality standards, and dealer field operations
Expert understanding of service equipment operation, evaluation, and service/warranty standards
Working Conditions
Work in both office and shop environments (90/10 ratio), coordinating with team members for hands-on evaluation
Up to 10% travel
Overtime as necessary to meet project deadlines and support division management to meet business objectives
