About the Role:
Our Travel Manager- Race and Business Travel is responsible for ensuring a best-in-class service is provided to the team across both F1 race weekends and wider business travel. The Travel Team customers include team members of Mercedes Grand Prix and Mercedes High Performance Powertrains, Mercedes executives. As part of this role the Travel Manager is also responsible for the management of the Team Chauffeur.
The Travel Manager should also support the Head of Travel to ensure the travel budget is achieved through making cost effective decisions whilst not compromising on service delivery.
Key Accountabilities (Duties)
Ensure the travel team act within the Travel Policy including supplementary policies (e.g. Helicopter, PTAL)
Ensure all travel arrangements for MGP (including MGP Board members) are accurate, efficient and benchmark quality
Provide travel services to HPP, Mercedes group companies (including Board members), Sponsors and Contractors as required
Carry out all preplanning before handing events over to the Race Co-ordinators
Ensure the delivery of the Travel team’s intent and ensure that the travel team’s development is clear priority with the support of the team’s development tool (Catalyst)
Present at the Travel Steering Group capturing any feedback and ensuring this is acted upon and fed back to the team
Present at the Travel Wellbeing Meetings
Ensure the Team Chauffeur is being utilised appropriately, including supporting marketing with their marquee events
Ensure team members are up to date with all administrative tasks; Cockpit, Credit Cards, Accrual files etc.
Manage the day-to-day relationship with key suppliers and partners e.g. Marriott
Review and approve hotel sign off sheets for approval by the Head of Travel
Review and approve subsistence runs weekly
Prepare flight cost analysis sheets to be signed off against the budget.
Be able to travel and work weekends occasionally as necessary
Candidate Profile
Demonstrated expertise in corporate travel management, financial management or similar environments
Experience providing management and leadership of teams in a fast changing environment
At least A Level education or equivalent
Commercial negotiation skills, supplier management and budget maintenance
Microsoft Suite (i.e. Office and Outlook), and SAP
Showcase excellent prioritisation, organisational and communication skills
Display traits such as commercial awareness, problem solving, self-motivation, flexibility and service orientation
