The Archives Assistant will assist in a broad range of basic archival functions such as processing, preservation, organization and cataloging of video, photos, documents and various artifacts in the collection housed at the newly established Team Penske Heritage Center.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Processing of the collection, including physical arrangement (sorting, boxing, labeling).
- Taking photos and creating descriptions of artifacts for database entry.
- Prepare artifacts for preservation using proper care methods.
- Digitization of records and photos with the use of a scanner.
Artifacts in the collection consist of:
- Trophies
- Apparel
- Helmets
- Photos, negatives & Slides
- Magazines, programs, catalogs and similar
- Framed images and artwork
- Die cast and other collectibles
- Large graphics
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Highly organized with a keen attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Excel.
- Possess a basic understanding of Photoshop.
- Experience with a scanner.
- Interest and passion for cataloging historic documents, photos, etc.
- Experience with museum software Past Perfect a plus.
