DLMP SUMMARY:
Penske Entertainment's Diverse Leadership in Motorsports Program (DLMP) is dedicated to providing unique and enriching opportunities to ethnically and/or racially diverse college students who hope to secure full-time employment in the sports and entertainment industries after graduation.
DLMP interns will be a part of the broader College Program, working and learning as members of their respective departments to receive valuable hands-on experience within those fields while receiving ongoing access to programming designed to support a well-rounded experience.
Participants will develop both their personal and professional skills by forming meaningful relationships with experienced professionals, working collaboratively with their cohort, and expanding their knowledge of the Indianapolis community while serving as ambassadors of Penske Entertainment.
In addition, DLMP interns specifically, will engage in a variety of activities focused on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. This enhanced programming includes time with various leaders in the broader Indiana sports community to learn about their organizations, their DEI efforts and feedback on the skills and experiences that sports, and entertainment organizations are looking for.
POSITION SUMMARY:
To participate in grassroots marketing efforts which include traveling to various events aimed at interacting with consumers, generating consumer lead, and representing the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Field Marketing Team is responsible for successful execution of the event, they must represent the image of the brand and provide a memorable experience for everyone they encounter. The Field Marketing Team is a paid promotional internship program. The team is onsite at IMS during major race weekends interacting with fans and assisting with event operations. Outside of race weekends the Field Marketing Team is located at community events, festivals, and other racetracks throughout Indianapolis and surrounding cities. The Marketing Intern is part of the College Program and is eligible for all relevant programming and experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Manage displays and collateral at all events (including set-up and tear down)
- Engage fans of all ages/backgrounds at events and identify future events from consumers
- Manage and operate the Rookie Zone during May, Brickyard, and other race weekends at IMS
- Build database by getting fans to sign-up for giveaways and other promotions
- Become a credible brand expert for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the INDYCAR Series
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the IMS brand and various athletes
- Provide ideas, contacts, suggestions on program improvement and work directly with Community Outreach Manager
- Be the outgoing personality that captivates an audience and excites fans to experience the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21+
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a four-year College/University
- Passionate about sports, motorsports and/or sports marketing
- High integrity and confidentiality
- Result oriented and creative
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, written, and verbal skills
- Innovative thinker and self-starter with perseverance to lead teams to success
- Local market knowledge is a plus
- Passion for community engagement and storytelling
- Bilingual candidates preferred
- Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Physical demands consist primarily of standing, walking, and sitting. Must be able to stand and remain mobile for extended periods of time during events. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time during long drives in an IMS vehicle.
- Must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without correction and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood.
- Must have the stamina to work long hours and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends or evenings.
- Work outdoors requires physical strength and stamina to endure extreme heat, cold, rain and other conditions.
