POSITION SUMMARY:
To participate in grassroots marketing efforts which include traveling to various events aimed at interacting with consumers, generating consumer leads, and representing the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Field Marketing Team is responsible for successful execution of events, representing the image of the brand and providing memorable experiences to everyone they encounter. The Field Marketing Team is a paid promotional internship program, and the team is onsite at IMS during major race weekends interacting with fans and assisting with event operations. Outside of race weekends the Field Marketing Team works at community events, festivals, and other racetracks in Indianapolis and surrounding cities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage displays and collateral at events (including set-up and tear down)
- Engage fans of all ages/backgrounds at events and identify future event opportunities from consumers
- Manage and operate the Rookie Zone during the Month of May, Brickyard Weekend, and other race weekends at IMS
- Build consumer database by getting fans to sign-up for giveaways and other promotions
- Become a credible brand expert for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the NTT INDYCAR Series
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the IMS brand and various athletes
- Provide ideas, contacts, suggestions on program improvement and work directly with Community Outreach Manager and Marketing Coordinator
- Have an outgoing personality that captivates an audience and excites fans to experience the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21+
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated from a four-year College/University
- Passionate about sports, motorsports and/or sports marketing
- High integrity and confidentiality
- Result-oriented and creative
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, written, and verbal skills
- Innovative thinker and self-starter with perseverance to lead teams to success
- Local market knowledge is a plus
- Passion for community engagement and storytelling
- Bilingual candidates preferred
- Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.

- May 13-19 Practice Days / Qualifications

- May 23 Miller Lite Carb Day
- May 24 Legends Day
- May 25 Indianapolis 500 Presented by Gainbridge
- Additional days in May be required for set-up and tear down of events

Additional requirements
- Must be available to work weekends
- Must have a flexible schedule
- Must be willing to work unusual hours
- Select event days February-April and June-October will be required. Manager will communicate those dates as they become available
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Physical demands consist primarily of standing, walking, and sitting. Must be able to stand and remain mobile for extended periods of time during events. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time during long drives in an IMS vehicle.
- Must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without correction and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood.
- Must have the stamina to work long hours and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends or evenings.
- Work outdoors requires physical strength and stamina to endure extreme heat, cold, rain and other conditions.
