We are looking for an experienced Customs and Trade Compliance professional to lead customs, import-export and trade compliance activities across Malaysia and selected ASEAN markets.
This role will work closely with internal teams including Supply Chain, Purchasing, Aftersales, R&D, Homologation, IT, HR and Finance, as well as key external stakeholders such as Customs, MIDA, MITI, port authorities and customs brokers.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead import/export customs clearance, declarations, tariff classification and valuation activities
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian and international customs, trade, sanctions and export-control requirements
- Drive duty optimisation, exemptions, FTA utilisation and customs-tax savings opportunities
- Manage customs licences, permits, MIDA/MITI applications, AEO-related activities and renewals
- Oversee FTZ operations, bonding, exports, repair and return, warranty replacements and sensitive-goods licensing
- Monitor policy and regulatory changes, assess business impact and improve internal customs processes
- Prepare clearance TAT, cash accrual and receivables reports for management
- Partner with Regional and Global Trade Compliance teams on duty optimisation and governance
- Lead, coach and develop a lean customs support team.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 10 - 12 years of experience in Customs and Trade Compliance
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian customs regulations, EXIM operations, HS classification, customs valuation, Rules of Origin, FTAs and INCOTERMS
- Experience in automotive, manufacturing or multinational environments is highly preferred
- Hands-on exposure to SAP and customs licensing processes
- Strong stakeholder-management, analytical, reporting and communication skills
- Professional English communication skills, written and spoken
- ASEAN customs exposure will be an added advantage.
