DUTIES : Participate in optimizing performance of IndyCar vehicles during races and testing sessions. Develop and enhance IndyCar tools to support Chevrolet-powered race teams, utilizing GM-created simulation and support tools to improve simulation correlation and contribute to Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) simulator operations. Collaborate with race teams to develop and implement performance strategies. Analyze telemetry and sensor data to identify areas for improvement. Provide real-time feedback to engineers during race events. Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders. Travel to all IndyCar race events (~ 10% travel). Hybrid Work Policy – 3 days In-Office, 2 Days Remote – Must be able to report to local office.
REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field of study and Three (3) years of experience as a Motorsports Engineer, Race Engineer, or related role. OR Master’s degree Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field of study and one (1) year of experience as a Motorsports Engineer, Race Engineer, or related role. One (1) year of experience with the following: IndyCar or similar high-performance racing series; Data analysis tools and software including MATLAB, Pi Toolbox, and MoTeC; Vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, and powertrain systems; Aerodynamic Understanding including aero balance, and drag vs downforce; Tire Modeling including wear and degradation; Data Visualizations; and Setup Development including Iterating on spring, damper, ARB, alignment changes based on feedback and data.
