As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping and strengthening Audi's supply base for Formula One power unit components. You will work closely with internal engineering, quality, and procurement teams to ensure suppliers meet Audi's high standards of performance, precision, and reliability in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and ensuring the selection of the right suppliers in collaboration with engineering and purchasing
- Conducting supplier audits based on defined standards
- Developing and managing strategic suppliers for critical power unit components
- Leading supplier readiness for series production under aggressive F1 timelines
- Conducting on-site supplier assessments across Europe and globally
You will also act as the link between AFR engineering/quality teams and suppliers, ensuring manufacturability of complex components (tight tolerances, advanced materials) and supporting suppliers in resolving technical and process-related challenges.
In addition, you will drive robust problem-solving using structured methodologies (8D, root cause analysis), ensure adherence to AFR and FIA quality standards, and monitor and improve supplier KPIs (quality, delivery, capability).
To succeed in this role, you will require a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar, and experience in supplier development, supplier quality, or manufacturing engineering. You should also have strong knowledge of GD&T, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and experience with complex manufacturing processes (e.g. CNC machining, castings, high-performance materials).
