We are seeking a Technical Sales Manager to represent our company as the key customer interface for our Global Manufacturing and Engineering centers. This role will support customers in Utsunomiya, Tokyo, Yokohama, and Nagoya.
As a Technical Sales Manager, you will exchange commercial information and build relationships within the company and its customers as a reliable local presence. You will initiate and lead commercial discussions and quote proposals, pursue new business opportunities with customers, market segments, and products that satisfy the needs of the company.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the company as the key customer interface for our Global Manufacturing and Engineering centers.
- Exchange commercial information and build relationships within the company and its customers as a reliable local presence.
- Initiate and lead commercial discussions and quote proposals.
- Pursue new business opportunities with customers, market segments, and products that satisfy the needs of the company.
- Lead the quoting efforts for commercial negotiations and provide information required to develop responses.
- Attend customer meetings as a liaison directly interfacing with customers and representing the manufacturing division to meet requests and objectives.
- Participate in open issues meetings with the company's global manufacturing facilities, engineering centers, and automotive manufacturers.
- Lead the development of customer technical review presentations for new business opportunities, ongoing business, and high-level management reviews.
- Identify and proactively support discussions to determine strategic direction to enhance profitability and proficiency of Multimatic.
- Visit customers directly and interact face to face to solve customer problems and facilitate a great relationship.
- Aim to respond to customer questions/requests, targeting within 24 hours of receiving said question/request.
Position Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited University or have experience in the automotive industry in an engineering environment.
- 5+ years of Automotive Industry experience with Japanese OEM's (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Subaru, Suzuki, etc.) or supplier.
- Must be native level speaking in Japanese, with preference of understanding English (spoken, written).
- An understanding of OEM processes, systems, and products.
- Experience with Automotive, Mechanism, Structure, Suspension, and Materials (such as Aluminum, Steel, Resin, Carbon Fiber) systems.
- Experience with engineering disciplines preferred: GD&T, DFMEA, PPAP/PSW, QOS, etc.
- A high level of proficiency using; Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. CAD expertise preferred.
- A solutions-based customer relations approach with clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and valid documentation to travel internationally, for customer visits to our technical center for engineering review, manufacturing site visits, and launch support activities.
- Passion, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to demonstrate perseverance/GRIT.
- Have excellent people/human relationship skills, can create, and maintain relationships with customers and internal team members.
- Have presentation/public speaking skills, can speak in front of the customers, teams, and potentially conferences.
- Have excellent time management and organization skills, balancing responding to customer requests and working meetings both internally and externally.
- Have a leader/host type approach to work, taking responsibility to answer customer questions and facilitate internal and/or external meetings to answer the customer's request, completely in a timely manner.
Our work environment and physical demands:
- Must be available to travel – local and international.
- The ability to work in a remote/home office environment.
- The ability to work in an office environment.
- The ability to be flexible/adjusting working hours to align with Multimatic teams around the world (mainly North America).
- This may include sitting or standing for most of the day.
- Although infrequent you may need to lift, carry, push, and pull material.
