The Commodity Buyer is responsible for the strategic management of specific categories within the supply base to leverage Multimatic's buying power through global consolidation of spend, cost analytics, strategic supplier relationships, and key market intelligence.
Key responsibilities include developing strategies for assigned commodities to achieve material costs savings targets, aggressively pursuing the commodity strategy to ensure competitive advantage/product cost leadership for Multimatic, and ensuring that the commodity strategy evolves to support changing market conditions and risk considerations.
The Commodity Buyer will also ensure execution of key projects through close collaboration with the cross-functional team, participate in regular purchasing team meetings, and define strategic suppliers within the assigned commodities.
Additionally, the Commodity Buyer will negotiate global supply agreements with key suppliers, develop should-cost models by product family, closely monitor the supply market, identify potential new suppliers, maintain the latest AVL for the assigned commodities, and support Supplier Development on audits and/or VAVE activities.
The Commodity Buyer will also support new customer projects through on-time quote submission to the NPI/AQP teams, ensure that recommended supplier selection meets the direction of the strategic plan, negotiate with vendors on commercial terms and technical aspects, visit suppliers as required, and work in a safe manner at all times.
The Commodity Buyer will adopt and practice Kaizen Lean Manufacturing Principles and Concepts to drive continuous improvement of the purchasing function, follow all general procedures where applicable, and work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.
