Hendrick Motorsports is currently seeking a full time Racing Transport Driver.
Job Summary:
- Under the general direction of lead transportation driver, this position has primary responsibility for the preparation of a race hauler on a weekly basis and driving the race car transporter to and from the track, wind tunnel, NASCAR inspections as needed.
- Requires use of an electronic logging device. Requires commercial driver’s license. The position is assisted by a co-driver.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Prepare hauler and equipment weekly for each event, including cleaning, re-stocking, repairing, polishing etc.
- Communicate with lead driver on special requests/needs from the racetrack.
- Load the hauler for departure preparation.
- Arrive at track and begin preliminary set-up of the garage, including unloading the toolbox, weighing 3,000+ pounds.
- Responsible for garage set-up prior to road crew arrival.
- Prep area around hauler with supplies and tools.
- Responsible for maintaining the team coolers during pre-race and race events.
- Assists with pit stops during the race. Duties may vary depending on the direction of the Crew Chief.
- Maintain cleanliness of the hauler, including vacuuming, wiping off counters, and organizing tools and other items left on the counters.
- Begins pre-loading the hauler during the race event.
- Breaks down toolboxes and related items and loads the hauler following the race in preparation for departure.
- Drives the company vehicle transporting company property safely to events and tests across the country.
- Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods.
- Safely secure cargo for transport.
- Provides support to the road crew at the track as needed.
- Maintain driver logs of working hours, as well as perform and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Manage transporter in emergency situations, including but not limited to flat tires, mechanical failures, etc.
- Report accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles to supervisor as soon as possible.
- Collaborate with other drivers as part of a driving team on some trips.
- Manage petty cash and bank receipts related to work travel.
- Responsible for ensuring transporter falls within DOT standards for service and compliance.
- Responsible for complying with all laws and regulations relating to operating commercial motor vehicles.

Desired Education:
- GED or High School Diploma
Certificates and Licenses:
- Commercial Driver’s License – Class A with Air Brake Endorsement
- Current DOT health certification

- Ability to communicate with teammates.
Attendance Expectations:
- The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to work on short notice.
Physical Demands:
- Vision (near, distance, depth), sense of touch, and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses, hearing protection.
- Frequently stands, walks, manually manipulates, reaches outward, lifts/carries up to 50 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, climbs, crawls, squats or kneels, bends, lifts/carries over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls over 100 pounds.
Environment Demands:
- Ability to travel extensively. Works in enclosed compartment while driving but will be exposed to outdoor elements at the track.
