Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. this means the successful candidate to report to the GM office full time.
The Role:
Plant floor systems & torque engineer will be responsible for supporting and managing plant floor systems and error-proofing processes across GM manufacturing plant. This includes system configuration, cybersecurity, and integration of manufacturing systems.
What You'll Do:

Support and handle Manufacturing Systems (GEPICS, MERS, EPP, ToolsNet)

Plant cybersecurity systems management

Collect requirements from plants for each Plant Floor System subfunction. PFS subfunctions include Quality Andon System, Production monitoring and Control System, Error Proofing, Option Data Delivery, IECN, Throughput, UD&C, Material Call, Production Routing and Tracking, InDepth system and Set Part System error proofing.

Conduct torque studies, tools selection and torque control.

Gap analysis and Design of the system according to GM standards.

Configuration/ programming of PLC and HMI

Responsible for managing any new updates/Changes in EP PLC Programs

Responsible to manage and control PFS systems

Work with IT on PFS daily activities

Onsite support for Commissioning on the Plant Floor Systems at GM facilities globally

Coordinate with the peers from GM and JV plants countries for Plant Floor System deployment

Off-line support to the GM & JV plants after system deployment

Monitor and control projects including project scope, issues, risks and schedule. Manage issues to closure. Communicate project status and ensures all stakeholders are aware of progress through project meetings, status reports and milestone reviews.

Participate in Investment studies, preliminary design discussions for any new or expansion projects. Provide cost analysis based on the PFS type and architecture level.

Implement Global tools for design of hardware & software to ensure minimum debug on site. Train suppliers and Engineers of other GM units in the region.

Validate designs and provide feedback to Global Centre w.r.t standards.

Responsible for performing root cause analysis for problems reported.

Responsible for training and Integrating Suppliers to adhere to GM standards. In Turnkey project, Guide & approve Hardware/ Software designs done by contractors for various project in the region.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualification)
Educational and Experience Background:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).

3-5 years of experience in plant floor systems management, torque operations, automotive industry.

Proficiency in MS Excel, ToolsTalk.
-
Analytical mindset with strong data management and reporting skills.

Good understanding of automotive industry operations and error proofing systems.
