What you'll do
As an Engineering Technician within the Test and Validation department, you will use your practical, hands-on skills and expertise to set-up and operates our rigs, executing tests on a wide range of car components and assemblies.
- Provide skilled, practical support to the Test Engineers for all component and sub-assembly test activities on a wide variety of platforms including HiL transmission and VTT dyno, brake dyno, eight-post rig, fuel, cooling, and structural test rigs.
- Ensure that control software, data acquisition systems, instruments, and actuators are configured and calibrated correctly prior to performing any tests.
- To carry out routine maintenance of test rigs identify potential issues and support the development of pre-emptive maintenance.
- Work to standards set by Test Engineering, ensuring data analysis and reporting standards are upheld, and signed-off prior to release.
- To ensure that predefined test procedures are upheld, and tests are performed in a safe manner.
- Write and follow standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and quality or our deliverables.
- Provide guidance and assist with the development of Technicians and Apprentices
- Contribute to the design, development, and operational requirements of our test capability, in collaboration with the Test Engineers and key stakeholders from around the business.
What you need
- Extensive practical knowledge and understanding of vehicle and/or powertrain systems and testing; assembly, operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Familiar with specialist technical and practical skills, tools and methods that are employed in the preparation of vehicle components and sub-systems for testing.
- Good understanding of instrumentation and actuators used on-vehicle and in the test environment, including best practices for application, handling, and calibration.
