What you'll do
To set, programme, edit, operate and run a range of Gear Cutting machines (Gleason-Pfauter) in order to produce transmission parts to the companies quality standards.
- To set, operate and run Gleason-Pfauter CNC and manual Gear Cutting machines.
- To carry out programming and editing functions to produce high quality components to drawing specification and quality.
- To establish best machining methods when required.
- To create & save a comprehensive set up procedure document for work undertaken.
- To store and maintain all tooling/gauging linked to the process.
- To liaise with the MSO to discuss manufacturing issues and label defective parts.
- To undertake day to day machine maintenance, coolant, lubrication & filtration management.
- To carry out Nital Etch inspection when required.
- Inspect/buddy check/self – inspect first off.
- Complete all necessary job cards and associated documentation, pack in appropriate packaging and relocate to next operation.
- Work to department schedule.
- To follow the company quality procedures.
- To be part of the personal development process and attend reviews as required.
- To observe the Health and Safety rules at all times.
- To carry out any reasonable additional duties as requested by management.
What you need
- Knowledge of Gear Cutting or CNC Cutting processes – D
- Operating, setting and programming of Gear Cutting machines – D
- A good understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances – E
- Ability to self-inspect gears and gear forms to drawing – D
- Understanding of the Nitial Etch process – D
- Some knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel – D
