We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Modelling Engineer (m/w/d) to join our Vehicle Simulation team. You will be responsible for developing and extending our vehicle dynamics simulation models for full vehicle performance assessment in real-time usage and lap time calculation. You will play a crucial role in collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and software developers. We aim to innovate and accelerate the wider deployment of state-of-the-art Digital Twin and driving simulation technologies, applied to Toyota GR racing vehicle development programmes.
What we offer:
Exciting projects and a place for technical freedom and innovation to get things moving
Attractive benefits packages e.g. competitive remuneration, social benefits, 30 days annual holiday, car leasing, free on-site gym
A challenging, fulfilling workplace in a multi-national company within a familiar atmosphere - driven by fascination and passion
Your Tasks:
Develop and extend the in-house full vehicle dynamics simulation models for dynamic simulation and lap time calculation
Create physical, mathematical or data driven models for highest possible fidelity under given constraints
Optimize the models for our in-house lap-time calculation solver and/or our real-time driver in the loop environment
Analyse data to compare and correlate model behaviour, identifying gaps and implementing improvements
Stay updated with the latest advancements in vehicle dynamics simulation technology and contribute to research projects
The successful candidate will have:
A minimum of a master’s degree in automotive or motorsport engineering, or an engineering discipline with modules covering several of the following topics: Mathematical/Physical Modelling, Vehicle Dynamics, Simulation, Optimisation, Control Theory or Robotics/Mechatronics.
At least 5 years of professional experience in developing performance vehicle dynamics simulation models
Strong proficiency in mathematical and physical modelling of vehicle dynamics systems
Proficient knowledge in at least one programming language – e.g. C++, C, MATLAB/Simulink, Python
Previous experience in quasistatic and dynamic lap-time calculation methods
Previous experience in optimization methods
Previous experience with numerical integration methods to solve dynamical models
A clean code mindset and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Previous experience working across multiple operating systems (e.g. Linux)
Self-motivation, ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks effectively, and eagerness to learn.
A proactive mindset to approach new challenges, proposing innovative solutions and driving development
The appreciation and understanding of source control and continuous integration tools in a development pipeline
