The Role:
We are looking for a Safety Representative to join our dynamic team. This role involves supporting key initiatives to implement the Workplace Safety System across multiple organizations and developing innovative strategies to prevent and reduce injuries and risks.
The candidate will collaborate with various GM organizations to integrate safety into new equipment and processes. The ideal candidate is proactive, independent, and responsive, capable of identifying hazards and risks, creating solutions, and guiding leaders to enhance their safety culture.
What You’ll Do:

Provide Workplace Safety technical and regulatory advice, mentoring, instructing, and coaching to organizational leaders and employees.

Assist site leadership in maintaining compliance with all GM Workplace Safety and regulatory requirements.

Analyze safety data to identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities for injury and risk reduction.

Assess site performance and conformance to requirements, ensuring a safe and inclusive work environment.

Collaborate with local site leadership to foster a culture of Workplace Safety.

Coach and develop site employees to promote safety initiatives.
-
Build partnerships with key personnel, including Non-Manufacturing Leadership, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene, and Health Services.

Investigate accidents and injuries.

Create safety programs aimed at reducing injuries.

Engage with local union representatives to address safety concerns.

Review new equipment to ensure compliance to Health and Safety Design Standards

Aid in the safety training of employees.

Facilitate safety-related meetings and safety committees

Manage and enhance the site’s safety SharePoint site by keeping content current

Create and deliver professional presentations effectively.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :

Bachelor's degree is required
-
Experience in Safety or Environmental field
-
Demonstrate a strong understanding of processes and procedures relevant to their work area, with the ability to make decisions and propose solutions to leadership. Understands different areas of their function and how their operations relate to others.

Identifies and corrects non-routine problems in existing systems and processes using independent judgment. Applies appropriate company policies and procedures to resolve various issues independently.

Works under general supervision with limited guidance and direction. Determines an appropriate course of action within broad guidelines and handles nearly every standard or typical request independently.
