As a Senior Environmental Specialist at BMW Group Plant Debrecen, you play a key role in ensuring that the plant’s operations fully comply with environmental legislation and standards, starting from strategic planning.
What awaits you?
- Work environment – you will be working at the Communication Center located within the BMW Group Plant Debrecen, in a modern, digitalized, open office-style environment, together with other office employees and your direct teammates. The Communication Center is a state-of-the-art office space equipped with kitchenettes, coffee stations, and ergonomic workstations, and also includes a company cafeteria.
- Team – you will work as a member of a three-person local Environmental Management team, in close collaboration with the international network.
- Strategic planning – you will take responsibility for strategic planning related to environmental protection (energy, CO₂, water, waste, soil, other emissions, biodiversity, etc.).
- Ensuring legal compliance – you will ensure BMW Group Plant Debrecen’s compliance with environmental legislation, as well as the availability of environmental permits and regulatory reports. You will coordinate the processes required to achieve environmental targets (internal data verification and reporting).
- Liaison with authorities and service providers – you will maintain contact and lead negotiations with various authorities and external service providers/partners to secure the flexibility needed for future process and model modifications at BMW Group Plant Debrecen, and to support the implementation of BMW Group strategies in regional permitting projects.
- Expert advisory role – as an expert, you ensure that business and environmental considerations remain balanced throughout plant operations.
- ISO 14001 compliance – you ensure the implementation of an ISO 14001–compliant environmental management system and oversee the development and maintenance of the system.
What should you bring along?
- Educational background – you hold a relevant university degree in chemical engineering, environmental protection, sustainability, industrial engineering, or a similar field.
- Work experience – you have at least 5 years of professional experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry in an environmental role, or at an organization certified in environmental management systems, including experience in system implementation, maintenance, and development.
- Work schedule – you are willing to work on-site during regular business hours. Remote work may be considered based on alignment with your line manager.
- Language skills – native-level Hungarian and business-fluent English.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations – you have in-depth knowledge of integrated environmental permits (IPPC/EKHE), Hungarian environmental legislation, and experience in permitting and regulatory processes.
