The Role We are seeking an AI Systems Engineer - Test & Validation to join our Manufacturing Technology Development team within the General Motors Research and Development organization. In this role, you will develop innovative test frameworks for robotics, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), simulation-driven validation, and continuous safety monitoring. You will define new performance metrics for intelligent collaborative robots such as adaptability, robustness, and trustworthiness. You will work with Robotics Intelligence to validate early prototypes and with AI & Simulation to benchmark AI models before deployment. What You'll Do Develop test frameworks including HIL and simulation-driven validation. Define performance metrics for intelligent robotic systems. Implement continuous safety monitoring strategies. Validate early prototypes with Robotics Intelligence. Benchmark AI models with AI & Simulation teams. Ensure reliability and robustness of deployed systems. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) 3+ years of experience in robotics testing and validation. Strong background in HIL testing and simulation environments. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C++. Experience with safety monitoring and performance benchmarking. Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Engineering, or related field. Excellent analytical and documentation skills. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) 5+ years of experience in robotics testing and validation. Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Robotics, or related field. Experience with intelligent collaborative robots and performance metrics. Track record of innovation in test frameworks.
