The Role We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Systems Researcher with a strong focus on software development and a quick learner mindset. As a Software Systems Researcher, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative software solutions across various domains. The primary emphasis of this role is on software and systems engineering and the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies. What You'll Do Conduct research and analysis in software systems, system engineering, and emerging technologies to identify best practices and trends. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand user needs, develop research plans, and translate them into scalable and efficient solutions. Demonstrate a can-do attitude, taking ownership of projects and proactively finding solutions to identified research problems. Embrace a quick learner mindset, staying up-to-date with industry advancements and rapidly acquiring new skills and knowledge in software development and Artificial Intelligence (ML)/Machine Learning (ML), including Generative AI. Contribute to GM R&D through the generation of new intellectual property and internal/external publications. Facilitate technology transfer by actively participating in inter-organizational teams. Collaborate with external partners, universities, and research institutions to foster innovation and drive collaborative research initiatives. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) U.S. citizenship required pursuant to government contract. MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field. Hands-on experience and a proven track record in software development and systems engineering. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Prior experience in publishing research papers and presenting at conferences is a plus. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field. Hands-on experience with AI/ML and data analytics frameworks and libraries, such as Azure OpenAI, TensorFlow, and PyTorch. Hands -on knowledge of ADAS systems, and vehicle dynamics. This position requires eligibility to access classified information at the Confidential U.S. Security Clearance level for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. The successful candidate must have eligibility to access classified information at that level.
