The Role
As a Quality Engineer, you will ensure robust quality systems are in place to drive Continuous Improvement and First Time Quality (FTQ) for Pontiac Lab Operations. You will also focus on embedding quality into the process development phase to prevent issues before they occur.
What You'll Do
- Work with lab equipment engineers to ensure quality concerns are addressed during development.
- Lead FTQ and Fast Response Activities.
- Prepare First Time Quality Reports for all Pontiac Powertrain Operations.
- Initiate QNPS / PRC problem resolution processes to detect root causes and implement lasting solutions through training, procedure updates, and process improvements.
- Issue Quality Alerts to inform customers of data or calculation issues.
- Maintain Standard Work documentation for project-related and validation functions.
- Review data and ensure emission test quality through statistical analysis.
- Track department, project, and Business Plan Deployment tasks.
- Maintain and issue monthly quality reports for laboratory and operations.
- Perform data acquisition and database management using PC software packages, maintaining records of status and changes.
- Refer to supervisor-maintained training documents for specific job training requirements.
- Support and promote GM & GPG policies, GMS principles, ISO/QS/TS procedures, and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) policies.
- Operate within budget and meet customer expectations.
- Strive for continuous improvement and higher quality.
- Maintain parts and supplies required to support work orders and test requests.
- Support safe work habits and good housekeeping practices.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with appropriate experience.
- Knowledge and application of statistical methods for data analysis.
- Working knowledge of lean engineering / quality systems and strong problem-solving skills.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, including global teams.
- Strong oral/written communication skills to interface with leadership.
- Proficient computer skills, especially in MS Excel and PowerPoint, for quality management, team leadership/training, and accurate documentation.
