The Team:
Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the embedded controls and software for all vehicle systems and components that manage cabin comfort.
The successful candidate will join an Agile Scrum team of approximately 10 members, responsible for developing HVAC Climate Controls for all GM vehicles produced globally! The Scrum team works in an Agile framework and is responsible for Requirements, Software Development, and Test.
The Role:
The primary role of the successful candidate will be Software Development and Test. Our team is collaborative, has a strong Agile culture, and will afford you the opportunity to work as part of a fun group whose product spans the entire GM portfolio!
Work as part of an Agile Scrum team that develops embedded automotive HVAC Climate Control systems. Responsibilities of this team unit include:

Participate in the Agile Team and ART Program Events as required
-
Working together with Product Owners, Testers, and other developers, using methods like Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD), create and implement Features for GM’s next generation of EV and ICE vehicles

You’ll be required to design, architect, develop and integrate software with hand-coded C, with some flexibility to choose implementation methods.

Create hand code to address any requirements not achieved through auto coding process
-
Experience with ECU Build process and software configuration management processes and tools (e.g. Git Ecosystem)

Create interfaces as required to integrate new software components into existing software
-
Create or modify Unit test cases and Multicomponent test cases to ensure thorough software testing, and execute model/code equivalences testing
-
Archive software components into repository database
-
Help create and update functional test plans, and execute those tests on a HIL bench & target controller build using common automotive test tools such as Intrepid Vehicle Spy

Interface with GM internal teams – Calibrators, Vehicle Integration Teams, etc.

Be familiar with MATLAB Simulink models, adhering to modeling / software / autocoding best practices
Required Skills and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Mechatronics, Software, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

Experience with writing and debugging C code and/or MATLAB Simulink/Stateflow and/or Rational Rhapsody

3 to 5 years of embedded software development experience preferred; Familiarity, test procedures and build processes in particular preferred

Individually motivated; Scrum Team members are expected to pursue their goals with a high degree of independence and motivation

Good oral and written communication skills are required, and high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team

Ability to manage time and meet deliverable timing is critical

Experience in any of the domains noted above an asset but not required (occupant access, position, protection, vision & visibility, and comfort/HVAC)
