Role Overview:
A role is available for a design engineer in the design department at Mahindra Racing. We are looking for an experienced engineer with diverse skills to join us on a full-time basis reporting to the Technical Director. The engineer will be working in a small group towards the goal of delivering best-in-class hardware solutions for the Mahindra Formula E World Championship entry and associated activities. This role extends beyond the race car, to the development car and any other directly related projects. The role will require a sound engineering background, and excellent CAD knowledge. Seniority and job title offered would be decided based on experience.
Main Responsibilities:
Delivery from concept through to manufacture and deployment of engineering solutions for briefs that fall within the scope of a motorsport design department.
Creation and up-issue of 3D CAD detailed parts, assemblies, and schemes according to requirements of the project.
Creation and up-issue of ISO standard drawings to allow production: including a good working knowledge of GD&T.
Responsible for contact and liaison with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project goals / parts and assembly use on car – including documentation on use and care through life.
Qualifications, skills and experience required:
Essential
Degree level, or near equivalent academic achievement - in mechanical engineering or similar.
Experience in the use of 3D CAD software, ideally CATIA / 3DExperience, and 2D engineering drawings for manufacture.
Strong knowledge of materials and modern manufacturing methods, including composite materials, subtractive and additive manufacturing, and rapid prototyping
Previous experience in developing detailed requirements from an engineering scope.
Design from first principles approach including calculations and modelling.
Good personal time management and experience of working on multiple projects in parallel.
Good communication skills, including the ability to explain technical subjects with peers and external suppliers.
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation & reporting
Desirable
Strong experience of relevant motorsport (or closely associated industry) experience is highly recommended in a relevant discipline.
Experience with electric powertrains including high voltage systems.
Experience of successful fault investigation, containment, and rectification.
Experience with on-car cooling design and modelling.
Experience with test-rig design and support.
