Technical Business Analyst – Interior Trim Digital Innovation
Entity, Location – Rolls Royce Motor Cars, Goodwood.
Overview:
We are seeking a forward-thinking student that has passion for technological innovation to join the Interior Trim Centre Planning Team in July 2026. The role combines technical business analysis with digital innovation to enhance how we plan, design, and manufacture interior trim products. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing planning, and digital transformation, applying lean principles and data-driven insight to create robust, future-ready production systems without compromising the exceptional quality Rolls-Royce is known for.
Our team consists of three separate areas of focus:
- Series Planning – “Creating a robust core production”
- Structure Planning – “Shaping the future production system”
- Project Planning – “Developing future products”
What awaits you?
- Technical business analysis within the concept development and manufacturing realisation process for interior trim products.
- Work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver on set milestones and KPIs.
- Use data and digital tools to analyse current production systems, identify improvement opportunities, and quantify impact.
- Lead or participate in digital-enabled initiatives (e.g., data dashboards, digital work instructions, shop-floor visualisation, and Industry 4.0 elements) that support lean manufacturing and VPS/CIP principles.
- Support the introduction of new materials, processes, and tooling; assess feasibility, risks, and timing.
- Contribute to the integration of new models into series manufacturing structures, including process work instructions, process routes, and capacity planning.
- Establish and maintain a Lean Manufacturing Environment within Interior Trim, applying VPS/CIP to reduce waste (7 Wastes) and improve flow.
- Conduct scenario planning to shape the future production system, considering demand forecasts, line capacity, and changeover strategies.
- Gather, cleanse, and analyse data sets to provide transparency on target environments and drive improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with procurement, engineering, quality, and IT to ensure digital solutions are aligned with business goals and regulatory/compliance requirements.
What you’ll do day-to-day?
- Analyse and document business requirements for interior trim production processes, relating design intent to manufacturability.
- Create and maintain dashboards and reporting that provide actionable insights on throughput, quality, uptime, and waste.
- Evaluate the impact of new materials, processes, and tooling on manufacturing feasibility, lead times and cost.
- Support digital initiatives such as data integration, shop-floor visualisation, and digital work instructions to improve standardisation and training.
- Assist in the rollout of Value Production System (VPS) and Work Organisation concepts across Interior Trim lines.
- Participate in risk assessments, change control, and impact analysis for model introductions and process changes.
- Facilitate communication across teams; translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement repositories.
What should you bring along?
- Studying a Bachelor’s or integrated Master’s degree and on track to achieve a 2:2 or above in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in data analysis (Excel, dashboard development; basic SQL or data tools is a plus).
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and manufacturing systems
- Proficiency in MS Office; comfortable with data visualisation and basic programming or scripting is advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Fluency in English
- Proactive, self-directed, and capable of working with minimal supervision while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
- Interest in applying digital and Industry 4.0 solutions to manufacturing and planning challenges within a high-end automotive interior trim context.
