The Health Center Medical Director is responsible for local medical leadership and management of Health Center operations. They oversee and provide direct patient care and treatment, perform medical examinations, integrate with the local business, oversee the site emergency response program, and promote health and well-being.
Education and Training
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree required
- Board certification in a medical specialty required, preferably in occupational medicine.
- Valid medical license
- Conversational and professional English
- Working on site 100% of the time

Expanded Responsibilities
1.Overall Health Center Operation oversight responsibility (management, programs, and personnel)
Communication
- Monthly staff meetings
- Review of BPD
- Meet with Nurse Supervisor regularly to review and discuss operational concerns and issues (patient care, staffing, business partner issues)
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Policy & Procedures including ORM requirements
- Conduct Health Center Self-Assessment
- ORM Approver for site
- Assure completion of all required qualification and surveillance exams at all sites
- Assure compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. BBP, injury illness reporting) at all sites
- Assure quality of medical care and medical records as verified on Audits
- Timekeeping Approval
- Perform or Delegate Nurse Supervisor duties in their absence.
- Manage complex staff issues
- 2. Direct report support and management
- Complete CAP process for direct reports; 9 box and comp planning for site medical team
- Assure training of nurses per roadmaps for new hires and license and training workbook
- Coach and mentor medical staff
- Serve as Hiring Manager for new supervisor at times of vacancy
3. Medical Examinations
- Evaluation, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Occupational /Non occupational injuries and Illnesses
- Provide higher level medical determination for medical surveillance and qualification exams when required
Disability/WC management
- Conduct Peer-to-peer reviews in conjunction with FFD, RTW, TPD, restrictions, etc.
Integrate with Business Partners (Connection to the business)
- Provide Medical expertise to site Management, HR, Labor, Safety, IH, ERGO, etc.
- Provide visibility on the plant floor via walkthrough and placement activity with ADAPT and Ergo
- Attend 95% of meetings – PSRB, Ergo, Hearing, HMCC, DIP, etc.
Responsible for the site Emergency Response Program
- Oversight of the First Responder Program
- Review and approve annual emergency response plan
- Plan, conduct and observe mock runs followed by a review and debrief with the team
- Review all actual emergency response runs and address issues as appropriate
Support Wellness/Wellbeing initiatives at the site
- Joint Wellness Committee and WLP
Requirements
- Five or more years plant medical and supervisory experience
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
- Ability to communicate, motivate, and inspire direct reports and others
- Ability to champion and lead change within work groups and departments
- Demonstrates innovative and strategic thinking
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
