Work Arrangement :This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
As a Layout Integrator/designer for the GMTCI, Manufacturing Engineering Layout team, you will play an integral role in the development of safe and efficient facility layouts. You will be engaged in up front strategic planning, conceptual models, detailed integrated layouts and current production drawings. You will work closely with a cross functional team of engineering collaborators to produce world class layouts for GM.
What You'll Do
- Execute the layout development and integration process for Stamping, Body, Paint, General Assembly, Conveyors & Propulsion Systems (Battery, Casting, Engine, or Transmission)
- Incorporate multi-discipline input into layouts to ensure lean, efficient processes with minimal floor space & building renovation
- Maintain layout drawing files and process incoming files for adherence to standards
- Participate/Lead layout integration meetings, develop and maintain issues lists, and facilitate a cross-functional layout development process
- Generate installation level design/detail as required
- Support New Program implementation and/or current production productivity and continuous improvement initiatives as required
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- BE/B TECH in Mechanical, Industrial, production, or Automobile.
- 2-6 year’s 3D layout experience utilizing AutoCAD / Factory CAD/Ug Nx
- Knowledge of NX-Line Designer, Vis Mockup is preferred
- Good understanding of manufacturing plant structure, processing, and material flow
- Good understanding of assembly/stamping/machining system functionality including process, design, robotics, controls, and manufacturing knowledge.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and execute manufacturing projects
- Demonstrated ability to work well with multiple customers at the same time
- Experience working with point cloud, ReCap, other Reality Capture information will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Lean Material Strategies (LMS)
