Sensing System Execution is a rapidly evolving space, deploying new camera, radar, lidar and localization sensors for driver assist features and autonomous vehicles. We have an exciting opportunity as a Senior Vehicle Systems Engineer – Front Camera, responsible to develop and deploy on-vehicle sensor system performance to end users! This assignment allows flexible work where creativity, initiative, independent judgment backed with data, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is crucial.
The Senior Vehicle Systems Engineer – Front Camera is responsible for delivering the integrated on-vehicle sensor performance of the Front Camera for all ADAS programs. You will be responsible to advance end-to-end sensor performance that provides the highest level of benefit to our customers. The position involves hands-on in vehicle, bench and virtual testing, data analysis, procedure refinement, tool deployment and performance optimization. In this role you will work closely with other sensor team members, sensing system design engineers, perception, feature engineers and design release engineers to deliver robust, integrated sensor performance for ADAS features.
What You'll Do:
- Single point contact for end-to-end sensor performance and execution of Acceptance Test Plan (ATP)
- Integrate new sensor hardware and software on-vehicle
- Lead on-vehicle sensor issue root cause, verify resolution and feed forward lessons learned
- Guide sensor performance PRTS and Jira tickets to resolution
- Support software engineers, perception team and suppliers to ensure sensor capability is developed to achieve feature performance
- Collaborate with Sensor System Design Engineers and DREs to establish and improve Key Performance Indicators (KPI), ATPs, component IQC (Initial Quality Check) and sensor tools for sensors to meet perception and feature requirements
- Participate in Dev/Val, Core, workgroups, PDTs, and technical reviews as required
- Lead or support sensor development and performance calibration rides (up to 10% travel)
- Execute Front Camera sensor performance testing during low-light (nighttime) conditions (varies during development, up to 30%)
Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering degree
- Minimum of 5years of engineering experience in an automotive or related industry
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience with camera perception system development
- Technical understanding of complex vehicle systems
- Previous experience in virtual, HIL, SIL, or component sensor development
- Vehicle development, calibration, integration, diagnostics experience
- Ability to root cause complex problems
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationships
- Demonstrated ability to successfully accomplish tasks under minimal direction
- Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate test vehicles
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering degree
- 3+ years of systems, integration, testing and/or calibration engineering experience with cameras or camera perception
- Demonstrated proficiency in Python tool and scripting development
- Experience with Jira and/or Jira X-Ray for project management, issue tracking, and test management
- Vehicle architectures, CAN, LIN, ethernet aptitude
- Proficiency utilizing data collection and calibration tools such as INCA, Vehicle Spy, and CRETA
- Knowledge of global regulatory standards (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards – FMVSS or United Nations Economic Commission for Europe – UNECE)
