Work Classification:   
     Hybrid:   This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, Michigan three times per week, at minimum. 
     What You'll Do:   
    -  ETRS Calibration Technical Specialist (Cal TS) / Engineering Leader across multiple product lines and propulsion systems (ICE, EV, PHEV) 
   -  Develop best common approaches and institutionalize them into documentation of Calibration and Validation Standard Work including 
  -  Lead the development of ETRS   calibration   strategies. 
   -  Lead the development of ETRS   diagnostics   strategies 
   -  Lead the development of ETRS   validation  , including   functional safety  , strategies 
   -  Master Calibration 
   -  Algorithm and software changes 
   -  PRTS, Safety tethers and PRDs 
   
     -  Proactively identify performance improvement, efficiency, and quality of Standard Work by systematically driving action into Virtual and Lab environments. 
   -  Lead the ETRS Calibration TRB. 
   -  Serve as a technical leader in multiple forms: OBD Pillars, OBD GSSLT, CSRB, System Safety, etc. 
   -  ETRS calibration representative and advocate in software Scrums/TRBs to guide technical detail of software changes 
   -  Support global Calibration Engineer work to ensure high-quality, on-time deliveries and flawless launches. Support Chief Engineer reviews and cross-program reviews. 
   -  Assist the resolution of global development issues in vehicle, factory, field service, and customer vehicles. 
   -  Actively participate in RPR/Running Changes. 
   -  Review deviations to best practice. 
   -  Provide Technical Mentoring (for both control system functionality and calibration strategy) to individuals in and out of the direct group, including global partners. 
   -  Provide input to System, Subsystem and Hardware Component Technical Specifications as applicable. 
   -  Ensure compliance with government regulations and GM-internal policies. 
   -  Ensure the ETRS system is meeting global system safety requirements. 
   -  Coordinate the testing of   ETRS Validation, Functional Safety, Diagnostics and Calibration   including reviewing Review of 325 Forms/RYG, CG190 and ensuring compliance of Figure of Merit 
   -  Document and integrate Lessons Learned from development and field issues into updated/new algorithms and Calibration Standard Work. 
   -  Facilitate work practices that adhere to all safety precautions and requirements, treating safety as the top priority during all work activities. 
   
     Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)  : 
    -  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering, or equivalent 
   -  Minimum 7 years of relevant job-related engineering experience 
   -  ETRS/Transmission calibration expert. Thorough knowledge of existing ETRS/Transmission calibration process and Calibration Standard Work. Strong background in calibration and controls, including associated tools (INCA, MDA, CRETA, NeoVI, Cal Check, etc.) 
   -  Fluent with complex system functions (i.e. engine, transmission, electric propulsion), specifically controls and related vehicle performance interactions. 
   -  Possesses strong analytical problem-solving ability, including independent judgment and decision-making skills with minimal input from Engineering Group Manager 
   -  Capability to manage high workload and help deliver calibrations to a strict timetable, on multiple programs, potentially globally. 
   -  Established as a leader, takes unpopular stands if necessary; encourages direct and tough debate but isn’t afraid to end and move on; is looked to for direction in a crisis; faces adversity head on; energized by tough challenges and conflict resolution. 
   -  Creates and maintains an environment that enables all diverse participants to contribute to full potential. High level of interpersonal skills to motivate and work effectively with cross functional partners to meet mutual goals. 
   -  Adept to lead teams and projects, including colleagues without direct line authority. High level of interpersonal skills and desire to lead/train less experienced calibrators. 
   -  Demonstrated high level of presentation, verbal, and written communication skills including the awareness and skill to communicate effectively with global colleagues who have different language and cultural work styles. 
   -  Valid driver's license and the ability to legally operate test vehicles in meeting GM Safe Driving rules and regulations. 
   -  Ability to travel domestically and internationally, generally less than 4 weeks per year. 
   
     What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):   
    -  10+ years Transmission/ETRS Calibration experience working in multiple functional areas within Transmission controls/calibration/diagnostics 
   -  Cross-sector experience (Engine Calibration, Algorithm, Hardware Systems Development, DRE, etc) 
   -  Capability in Amesim, C, C++, Python, GMSIM, Matlab, Simulink 
   -  Knowledge and understanding of Scaled Agile Framework development process and control theory 
   -  DFSS Black Belt Certification 
   -  Master or PhD degree in Engineering
