Welcome to the home of Global Electric Street Racing.
The Role:
We are hiring a leader to own, manage and deliver the Environmental Excellence pillar of our Sustainability strategy. This role is crucial for maintaining our Net Zero Pathway certification and safeguarding our reputation as the most sustainable sport. This role involves leading carbon measurement, reduction planning, complex environmental compliance reporting, and supporting sustainability operations across all events.
Strategy & Carbon Management: Lead the maintenance, delivery and evolution of the Net Zero Pathway strategy. This includes taking ownership of carbon measurement, leading the carbon reduction plan and overseeing the offsetting approach (identification, approval and retirement of credits). You will lead the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) project for the GEN cars to accurately feed carbon footprint data into future design, while managing complex carbon data gathering across internal departments (Logistics, Power) and external consultants, ensuring strict alignment with targets. Frequent international travel is required for this position.
Compliance & Reporting Leadership: Lead all environmental compliance reporting, including UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action, CDP, ESOS, SECR, and SEforAll. You will spearhead efforts related to ISO audits (e.g., ISO 14064) and contribute significantly to all ESG reporting, ensuring technical data is communicated effectively. You will also support Sustainable Event certifications compliance, including ISO 20121 and FIA Environmental Accreditation.
Event Operations Support & Integration: Provide corporate support and maintain processes for all sustainability event operations, holding regular working groups with key internal departments (Power, Logistics, Event Project Management and Procurement). You will actively support the integration of the Net Zero Pathway into internal ways of working to minimise environmental impacts in line with carbon reduction targets.
Content & Stakeholder Coordination: Provide content support for all environmental sustainability communications, including the Sustainability Reporting. Account manage and coordinate partnerships, like UNFS4C and SEforAll, in terms of reporting and activations.
What we're looking for in you:
Experience and Expertise: You will have demonstrable experience in sustainability, with a specialism in the environment, ideally backed by a relevant degree or qualification (3-5 years’ experience desirable). Proven experience in Management Systems, Compliance and extra-financial reporting is essential. You must have experience managing change and driving initiatives in a fast-paced, complex environment, including implementing new initiatives. You must understand the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) concept and have expertise in managing carbon data gathering and reporting across stakeholders. Experience leading ISO audits (e.g., ISO 14064, ISO 20121) is required.
Skills and Aptitudes: You possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, able to act as a friendly, collaborative colleague who builds strong relationships. You demonstrate high levels of organisation and autonomy, whilst being an effective subject matter expert. You must have a proactive, "go-getter" approach, confidently identifying next steps and driving the environmental direction forward without constant direction. Efficiency in problem-solving and using initiative are essential, alongside strong time management. Professional membership at IEMA Associate level or higher is required.
Mindset and Personal Qualities: You are highly driven and process-orientated, with a strong focus on bringing structure to areas that are currently more fluid. You are fast-paced and delivery focused with strong project management skills and a self-starting, independent work ethic. You must be an excellent communicator with high cultural awareness, able to work effectively under pressure or with unknowns due to the event-based nature of the business. Interests in Sustainability, Motorsport, change management, and electric mobility are desirable.
