Position Overview The Engineering Group Manager – Paint Engineering leads a team of engineers responsible for the end-to-end execution of manufacturing engineering projects. This includes process development, equipment design, and successful launch at assembly sites. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams—strategic suppliers, operations, purchasing, and supply chain—to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project delivery. This position plays a key role in shaping the future of GM’s paint manufacturing processes and demands a high level of independent decision-making and leadership during project installation and startup phases. Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers through coaching, training, and performance management. Define and manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and investment requirements. Monitor project milestones, proactively resolve issues, and mitigate risks. Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and manufacturing best practices (Bill of Process, Bill of Equipment). Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless execution and successful product launches. Champion continuous improvement initiatives across Manufacturing Engineering, Strategic Suppliers, and Product Engineering. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Manage project budgets and forecasts, driving cost reduction strategies. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in manufacturing engineering. Required Qualifications Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing with demonstrated expertise in engineering principles and practices. At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role with proven ability to manage teams and deliver results. Strong background in project execution within manufacturing environments, including equipment installation and construction. Proficiency in processing equipment, throughput analysis, and manufacturing process design. Deep understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Solid knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments. Familiarity with robotics and automation technologies. Experience in automotive paint shops and paint process engineering. #LI-JK1
