About the Position.
BMW Group Canada, based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BMW AG and is responsible for the distribution of BMW luxury performance automobiles, Sports Activity Vehicles, Motorcycles, and MINI. A total network of 50 BMW automobile retail centres, 21 BMW motorcycle retailers, and 30 MINI retailers represents the BMW Group across the country.
BMW Group Canada is looking for a recent graduate for a 12-month term intern starting January 2025 for a position involving Vehicle Communications and Business Development elements.
We are seeking a highly-motivated individual who is passionate about technology and the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, which is supplemented with knowledge of the automotive industry. The intern will play a key role within the ConnectedDrive team and will support a wide range of projects in the areas of:
- Vehicle Communications (Telematics, Navigation)
- Electronic accessory integration (Bluetooth, Smartphone Integration, BMW Apps)
- Business Development, Product Development
The tasks/projects taken on by the chosen candidate will allow them to develop their technical and project management skills in a dynamic and fast-paced professional environment.
Specific Responsibilities include:
- Supporting Retailers across Canada by addressing inquiries and resolving technical issues related to ConnectedDrive Services and customer account management
- Supporting test and validation of various backend, retailer facing, and customer facing systems and platforms
- Maintaining various reports which aim to move the business forward
- Supporting in-vehicle communication validation activities and smartphone app compatibility testing
- Involvement in testing of Telematics features (Real Time Traffic, Voice Commands, Connected Navigation)
- Supporting day to day Vehicle Communications and other departmental IT operations
- Collaborating with other teams (Warranty, IT, Technical, BMW USA, BMW AG) to resolve Retailer issues and address customer concerns
Qualifications:
- University degree
- A passion for the automotive and consumer electronics industries
- Attention to detail, ability to prioritize effectively and multitask, willingness to adapt
- Very strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Prior automotive experience is an asset, but not required
- Chosen candidate must possess a valid G2 or higher driver’s license
- Proficiency in French is an asset
