The Role:
The General Assembly Launch Manager will lead all launch-related activities within the General Assembly department, reporting directly to the Plant Launch Operations Manager. This role serves as the primary liaison between the Launch Team and the General Assembly Area Manager, ensuring seamless coordination across departments.
The main purpose of this role is to ensure flawless execution of General Assembly deliverables, resolve launch-related issues, and support the development of a trained and capable GA organization.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
Product & Issue Resolution
- Analyze design, tooling, and specifications for SPQRC issues.
- Collaborate with Engineering to meet Process Engineering requirements.
- Support JES/SOS development and cross-departmental issue resolution.
- Lead problem-solving efforts using the 7-diamond methodology.
- Manage change control, PTRs, EWOs, and reworks.
- Facilitate daily wrap-up and PIT/Superintendent meetings.
- Coordinate rework of non-salable parts and Process Verification Builds.
- Lead Virtual Tryout discussions for GA.
- Maintain and update GA Master Dot deliverables.
- Communicate launch status to PLOM and Area Manager.
- Align material and quality plans with launch objectives.
- Ensure manpower targets and resource planning are met.
- Oversee validation builds with focus on Safety, Quality, and Throughput.
- Support dimensional tune-in and ergonomic issue resolution.
- Provide input on layout development and tooling buy-offs.
- Lead Matching Build activities for M3 & M4 events.
- Develop and execute GA training plans for operators and skilled trades.
- Capture and apply lessons learned from previous and current programs.
- Lead workshops and support Process Verification Builds.
- Lead the GA launch team and manage daily activities, PIT/IRT, and budget.
- Coordinate plant participation in validation builds and tool shop buyoffs.
- Forecast and secure plant resources for launch execution.
- Provide input into pre-production budget planning.
- Ensure flawless execution of GA launch deliverables.
- Deliver a trained and prepared General Assembly team.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-10 years experience in automotive manufacturing and launch environments.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Deep understanding of General Assembly operations and tooling.
- Ability to manage complex timelines and deliverables.
