Every individual plays their part. No stone is left unturned in the chase for every tenth of a second. The history of our sport is long and rich, and we are continuing our journey with renewed effort year on year. Record books remember the names of a few, but history is written by the many.
About the Role:
An exciting position has become available within the Simulation and Modelling group for a new Simulation and Modelling Engineer. This position will report directly to the Lead Simulation and Modelling Engineer and will work with the Simulation and Modelling group on exciting projects.
We are looking for engineers with excellent mathematical modelling, numerical analysis and computational methods skills, particularly in the field of engineering optimisation and numerical optimal control, along with the ability to write quality code towards the development of the advanced vehicle simulations within our current environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and validating advanced vehicle and sub-component physical systems.
Implementing and extending simulation algorithms for performance applications including driver-in-the-loop, lap time simulation and data augmentation.
Providing user support to ensure reliable operation of the simulations during race and test events.
Researching to continuously innovate the group technology and to develop our models and simulation further, while pragmatically meeting the engineering requirements of the Team.
Delivering on strategical projects and goals for the Team in the field on modelling and simulation while keeping alignment with the intent of the group.
Interacting internally and directly with other groups within the Team to provide solutions supporting objective technical decision making.
Ensuring the on-going data quality and correlation of the developed simulation tools against track and experimental data to maintain the validity of the numerical results.
Candidate profile:
Essential:
A degree or close to completing a degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering (MEng, MSc or PhD) or a similar qualification.
Experience in developing mathematical models and simulation algorithms.
An excellent grounding in classical mechanics, engineering numerical analysis, and computational methods.
Be comfortable with software development practices and object-oriented coding languages (MATLAB or Python).
Excellent communicative and collaborative skills.
The capability, enthusiasm and attitude essential for our work environment.
Desirable:
Previous experience in industry and/or academia in a comparable role.
Understanding of non-linear programming techniques, numerical optimal control and/or linear solvers.
Experience with modelling of physical systems in Dymola.
What We Offer:
Our riverside campus is powered by 100% renewably sourced energy and includes an on-site gym, exercise studio, subsidised restaurant, and on-site parking with EV chargers.
We also offer a competitive benefits package including a generous bonus scheme, Mercedes car lease scheme, private medical cover, life assurance, and 25 days’ holiday. We pride ourselves on our family-friendly culture and team-wide focus on well-being.
