The Role:
The GM Defense Design Release Engineer is responsible for the design and release of several Vehicle subsystems. As the DRE, you are involved with the latest technology for use on current and future GMD work! You will work with a high-performance team and will be responsible for the design and packaging of many components.
This position requires knowledge of design release responsibilities and knowledge of both high and low volume production. It is highly recommended to have knowledge of multiple low volume manufacturing processes and component design. Candidates for this position will need very little ramp up time and be able to contribute immediately to the program. Meeting and exceeding program milestones is critical from the beginning.
What You'll Do:
- Utilize Program Management knowledge to aid in achieving program milestones
- Coach and lead suppliers to timely execution of program deliverables with perfection.
- Resolve highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research.
- Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
- Skilled and proficient with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Rely mostly on extensive personal experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Perform multiple tasks. Lead and likely direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- BS in Engineering
- 5+ years engineering experience
- Experience in vehicle design (experience as a military contractor is a plus)
- Knowledge of high and low volume suppliers within the Vehicle space
- Understanding of GD&T principles
- Build process trouble shooting experience
- Experience at solving design/manufacturing issues quickly as part of a cross-functional team
- Experience managing OEMs or suppliers on critical timelines
- Experience resolving complex engineering issues
- Experience presenting to a wide variety of audiences
- Excellent collaboration skills with others within and outside of their direct organization
- Ability to work periodically at MPG Milford, MI
