The role:
As a Paint Automation and Continuous Improvement Lead, you will coach, train, develop and evaluate employees. You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems, and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations in addition to the following:
- Nearly constant contact with others outside the work group
- Administers divisional and Corporate policies
- Meets cost, schedule and quality requirements
- Maintains Corporate and unit management control systems, budget and other information necessary to monitor performance in addition to maintaining safety and good housekeeping standards
- Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Assist in the forecasting of areas of responsibility and Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job or project
Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment. Assists in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities.
Responsible to manage salaried employees in the implementation and execution of the established business process for the department and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems. Supervise a group of salaried employees involved in multiple departments and processes.
This role will provide technical leadership and guide your teams toward the successful execution of manufacturing processes. Develop new processes, standards, or operational plans in support of the organization's business strategies with a direct impact on business and/or function overall results. Influence others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Work may include identifying problems, updating, or modifying working methods that may be complex in their work area without the benefit of defined procedures while promoting GM's values and makes customer-focused decisions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support/Manage the manufacturing operations and paint automation
- Promotes, educates, communicates and follows up on safety initiatives
- Assists in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations
- Excellent proven communication skills

- Knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing Systems
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes and management systems as they relate to production operations (PCPs, 6 Pillars, A,B,C Metrics)
- Provide leadership for SPQRCE for the department and lead the SPQRCE initiatives
- Knowledge of the total production process
- Champion of allocated BPD activities
- Discuss weekly production plan with production control
- Incorporate training requirements in production
- Works with maintenance on maintaining the TPM program
- Execute CIP workshops
- Liaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasures
- Demonstrated experience and ability negotiating with the union leadership and managing both salary and hourly personnel concerns
- Manage budget and achievement of productivity improvements
- Interacts with Local ME on processing, lay out and tooling for current and future products
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with process controls plans
- Ability to travel when needed
