The Role

As an Environmental Engineer at General Motors you will have the opportunity to champion the air, waste and water compliance programs and be responsible for developing programs to reduce environmental risk. You will work cross functionally with diverse groups to create and implement best-in-class, sustainable solutions to improve environmental compliance and sustainability across the site. What You'll Do
- Focus on driving consistent environmental stewardship programs.
- Engage with local regulatory agencies.
- Develop creative solutions to complex environmental challenges.
- Utilize technology and information to develop and maintain environmental management systems.
- Monitor environmental parameters and progress to provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Support and improve system designs that preserve the environment, integrate the latest technologies, and provide long-term environmental solutions.
- Grow to understand the plant manufacturing systems including production processes, wastewater discharges, storm water management, air emissions impacts, sewer systems, chemical usage, and waste management/recycling programs, to ensure effective decision-making and regulatory compliance.
- Interface with business partners and regulatory agencies to prepare required regulatory documentation and reports, schedule and perform compliance testing.
Your Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in environmental engineering or related sciences field.
- 5+ years’ experience in Air Permitting, Storm Water Permitting, and/or Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements.
- Experience in environmental engineering or related science, preferably at a manufacturing operation.
- Basic knowledge of the automotive manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to execute projects.
