Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Delta on a full-time basis.
The Role :
Has general supervisory responsibility for a medium group of employees engaged in the quality inspection of production products, including first-line supervisory subordinates. Work involves the coordination of a number of inspection functions involving the ability to make decisions within the limits of general practices and policies. Needs to maintain awareness of quality standards, drive meeting of department quality goals, and leverage resources to solve quality issues for the plant.
Work Arrangement
- LDT works a traditional 5 day work week including several Saturdays, and is a 3 shift plant. Work is onsite. Rotation between all 3 shifts is acceptable.
What you’ll do/Responsibilities
- Responsible for all Quality Departmental functions
- Oversee plant quality performance through daily and weekly quality meetings, drive production departmental follow-up on DRR, GCA and EFTQ
- Implements and maintains BIQ calibration statements and other applicable GMS principal statements
- Interfaces with production department leaders on systemic quality problems and ensures containments are executed effectively
- Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders
- Keeps management informed of key developments
- Business Manager activities such manpower, basketweave, Level 2 BPD, training etc.
- GSIP Administration
- Complies with terms of local and national labor agreements
- Manage medium group of employees in high paced manufacturing environment
- Create a positive engaged work environment that drives continuous improvement
- Make decisions independently with limited supervision
- Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping
- Drive effective reaction to defects using alarm and escalation
- Oversee overall quality performance of the shift, including but not limited to containments, shipping holds, GCA, DRR and EFTQ
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working in quality or a manufacturing environment
- Group Leader experience
- Managerial courage to provide direct, honest, constructive feedback to Plant Staffs / Executive Leadership in a considerate and professional manner.
- Ability to work OT as needed
- Well developed oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of scheduling, manufacturing processes, quality control standards, and other management systems
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
- Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex
- Proficiency and knowledge of vehicle/propulsion Manufacturing and the elements of the GM Quality System / GMS BIQ.

- Significant experience with quality systems

- Proficiency in GSIP
