Job Purpose
- This position communicates Honda’s position on public policy issues to public policy makers and informs Honda leadership and working groups about legislation and other policy trends that may impact the company or our products.
Key Accountabilities
- Read and analyse state and local legislation to determine its viability and its potential impact to the company
- Work with trade associations to share our public policy positions and ensure their advocacy is consistent with our direction
- Directly lobby public policy makers to influence public policy and serve as Honda’s POC with government officials
- Educate public policy makers about Honda goals and initiatives
- Perform research and special projects as necessary
- Share detailed and accurate legislative developments and analysis with Honda leaders and business units
- Utilize various resources, including political context and intelligence, to develop policy proposals and work with GIR leadership and SME's to develop legislative/policy strategies and responses.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- A four year college degree in Government, Business, Journalism, Communications, Pre-law, Public Policy or a related field
Minimum Experience:
- 3 to 5 years working for a state legislator, state legislative tracking service, trade association, grassroots campaign, lobbying firm or other field dealing with state and local legislation and politics,
Other Job-Specific Skills
- Ability to read and analyse legislation
- Strong understanding of state and local political process
- Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
